Social Media Networking for Business

Our world is changing and the business world is no different. 10 years ago no one had heard of social media networking and no had even contemplated using it as a business tool. Today companies rely on the social media websites to create chatter between customers, have interactions with their customers. Last but not least, companies use social media for customer supoprt. The upside of doing this is that a company social media profile is visible to all its followers and as such is a powerful way of building trust by answering customer support queries as quickly, efficiently as possible.

Prospective customers do not go to a hundred shops to research products anymore, instead they use their computers, smartphones, tablets to interact with people all over the world on social networks for answers – you need to be the one giving your customers those answers!!

According to Mashable, people spend 4 hours on the ineternet today compared with just 46 minutes 10 years ago – can you business afford to lose out on this opportunity? I am guessing the answer is no!

There are several social media networks your company could have a presence in

  • Facebook
  • Google+
  • Twitter
  • Pinterest
  • Orkut
  • LinkedIN
  • Instagram
  • And other regional ones
How do you choose the right one for you? You could go for the blanket approach and have a presence in all of them but the law of diminishing returns dictates that your campaign will not be effective because your limited resources will be spread too thin. In the next few blog write-ups I will analyse which social media networks will work best for your business.

As a rule of thumb, the social media presence should drive the traffic to your site or refer people to your website.

You need to have effective landing pages for those referrals to guarantee converting those referrals into business queries and then into revenue.
